Over 1,000 firefighters from around Mass took to the state house as a sign of solidarity against firefighter lay offs. Gov Deval Patrick met with PFFM President Bob McCarthy and laid off firefighters from Fall River and New Bedford.

Reading, MA Firefighters were called to a Longwood Ave. home on Saturday for a report of a dog stuck on a roof. Upon arrival Engine 2 encountered exactly that. Apparently the homeowners were not at home and had left an upstairs window open. The dog, apparently looking for some fresh air, or perhaps a better view of the street on a nice warm Spring Saturday, broke through the screen and hopped out onto the porch roof above the front door. Neighbors seeing the nervous dog sitting on the roof called Firefighters who responded and placed a ladder against the roof and climbed up to assist the scared dog back through the torn screen and into the house.
