DEMOGRAPHICS: The town of Milton borders Boston, has a population of over 26,000 people, and an area of 13.20 square miles. The town is primarily a residential community with the Blue Hills Reservation covering a good section of land. Commuters can access the town through Interstate 93 as well as through bus lines and the commuter rail of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. Milton Hospital provides emergency department services to residents and local patients.

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT - THEN AND NOW: The Milton Fire Department responds from three stations staffing three engines and one ladder. Fire Alarm is operated out of the Headquarters station and the frequency of 483.5125 has not changed. In 1993, the apparatus roster consisted of Mack, Maxim, and Sutphen. Today the department operates with primarily E-One equipment. The color scheme has gone through a cycle, changing from all red to white/red, then back to red for the new ladder, and then white/red for the latest pumper. The only piece of equipment still on the roster from 1993 is Ladder 2's 1967 Maxim which is a reserve. Milton responds to medical emergencies on a first responder basis with Fallon Ambulance Service providing transporting services.
