DEMOGRAPHICS: The town of Weston is located twelve miles west of Boston, has a population of over 10,000 people, and an area of 17.36 square miles. The town has an affluent residential population with a shopping area in the center. Regis College and Boston College's Weston Observatory make their homes in Wellesley. The observatory is a seismic monitoring center for earthquakes. Weston has highway access to the Mass Turnpike (I-90) and Interstate 95 (Route 128) as well as several local routes. The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority provides commuter rail and bus service to Weston. Patients requiring emergency department service may opt to be transported to near by Newton-Wellesley or Deacaness Waltham Hospitals.

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT - THEN AND NOW: The Weston Fire Department responds from two stations staffing two engines, one ladder, and one ambulance. Fire Alarm is operated by Fire Alarm Operators out of the Headquarters station and the frequency of 154.160 has remained unchanged. In 1993, the apparatus roster consisted of E-One and Pirsch with newer deliveries coming from Pierce and E-One. The color scheme has remained white/red. Still on the roster from 1993 is Engine 5's 1991 Ford brush unit. Weston responds to medical emergencies with a BLS ambulance with AMR providing ALS service.
