DEMOGRAPHICS: The town of Weymouth is located twelve miles south of Boston, has a population of over 55,000 people, and an area of 17.72 square miles. The town is largely residential with some light industry mixed in. There is a mercantile area in the center of town and a large airfield that once was home to a Naval Air Station that was closed during the Clinton Administration. Weymouth has highway access to Route 3 as well as several local routes that run through the town. Patients requiring emergency department service may opt to be transported to South Shore Hospital.

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT - THEN AND NOW: The Weymouth Fire Department responds from three stations staffing three engines and one ladder. Like many departments, Weymouth has seen it's share of ups and down. The department was operating out of five stations at one point before being forced to close two stations due to budget cuts. Fire Headquarters is still open for administration, but no apparatus respond from that location. Fire Alarm is operated by Fire Alarm Operators out of the Headquarters station and the frequency of 154.235 has remained unchanged. In 1993, the apparatus roster consisted of a variety of manufacturers including Mack, Maxim, and Sutphen with newer deliveries coming from E-One. The color scheme has changed from all red to white/red. Still on the roster from 1993 is Engine 2's 1987 Mack (rsv) and Engine 5's 1993 KME. Weymouth responds to medical emergencies on a first responder basis with Fallon Ambulance providing transport service.
