USS Des Moines CA-134 Pennant

You are looking at a piece of the Des Moines Commissioning Pennant. The piece measures 8" X 16.5" and is owned by Tony Ferraiola. He recalls that each crew member was given a piece upon decommissioning. The pennant was triangular with a blue field with white stars, and tapered off to red and white stripes.

The piece that he has (judging from it's shape and size) came from somewhere near the end of the pennant. Tony does not recall seeing it flying but we know that Commissioning pennants are flown from the mast under the U.S. Flag.

Thank You Tony!

Louis Lockwood also has a piece of a Pennant and has donated these pictures.
His pennant is from the USS Des Moines "Homeward Bound Pennant".

My portion measures 8.125"( long) by 7.25" (high)(lenght along the seam).
