Rhode Island- Former Director of the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency (RIEMA) Peter Gaynor has been named as the Administrator for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). He had been previously acting in this position and is now the permanent administrator. Posted in January.

Bristol, Rhode Island Fire Department- has taken delivery of a new fireboat for Marine 7. The 40' fireboat features a 1500 GPM pump and 4 water cannons. Posted in July.

Central Falls, Rhode Island Fire Department- the spare ladder (1992 E-One 110' RMA) has been permanently taken out of service due to mechanical issues. Posted in May.

Central Falls, Rhode Island Fire Department- has been awarded a Federal grant in the amount of $209,809.52 for firefighter breathing apparatus.

Cranston, Rhode Island Fire Department- has been awarded a Federal grant in the amount of $97,272.73 for 4 - protective gear washers and 6-protective gear dryers.

Cumberland, Rhode Island Fire Department- spare Truck 1 (2000 KME 1500/500/75' RMA) has been permanently taken out of service due to mechanical issues. Posted in May.

Cumberland, Rhode Island Fire Department- has been awarded a Federal grant in the amount of $205,617.00 for fire hose, nozzles, and firefighter training.

East Greenwich, Rhode Island Fire Department- has been awarded a Federal grant in the amount of $187,333.33 for firefighter breathing apparatus, an breathing apparatus facepiece FIT Tester, RIT Pack

East Greenwich, Rhode Island Fire Department- has been awarded a Federal grant in the amount of $274,885.10 – REGIONAL GRANT with the North Kingstown Fire Department for cardiac monitors, chest compression devices, and power lift cots & power lift systems.

East Providence, Rhode Island Fire Department- has been awarded a Federal grant in the amount of $691,336.36 for 39 mobile radios and firefighter breathing apparatus.

East Providence, Rhode Island Fire Department- recently placed into service a 2001 Freightliner FL-80/E-One 1500/470/30A as Engine 7 (reserve pumper). It previously served as Kingston Engine 9. Posted in September.

Pawtucket, Rhode Island Fire Department- Engine 3 has been reactivated and will run out of it's former station on Columbus Ave. To facilitate the manpower, Ladder 1 and Ladder 2 will now run with a crew of 2 instead of 3. Warwick, Rhode Island Fire Department- recently placed into service a 1994 Pierce Dash 1250/500 as Engine 11 (Reserve). It previously served in Cohassett and Lincoln, Mass. The department also placed into service a 2009 HME/Hensel 1250/618/53F as Engine 14 (Reserve). It has an usual German built body and served with the US Army Fire Brigade in Germany. Western Coventry, Rhode Island Fire Department- has been awarded a Federal grant in the amount of $17,142.86 for firefighter training and fire hose.

West Warwick, Rhode Island Fire Department- has been awarded a Federal grant in the amount of $71,141.82 for an air compressor – air refill system.
