Historic Keene fire engine needs a new home ASAP or will be sold for scrap! The Historical Society of Cheshire County was contacted today (May 9) by “someone who wants to give away a former Keene fire truck. It is a 1952 Pirsch model truck that was formerly Keene Engine #1. The owner has the maintenance record and several photos of the truck in action. The last maintenance entry was from 1981. The truck has been sitting outside for at least several years. A new building is going to be built where the vehicle is currently sitting and it has to be removed or arrangements made by next Friday (May 16). The truck is located in Sullivan just off Route 9. I thought you might know of someone who might be interested in this restoration project. If you know anyone who might want an old fire engine, have them contact Kathy Valley at 603-286-3176 by early next week. After that date, it will be removed and sold for scrap. |
